Historical Events of the Aztec Empire
In 1325, the city Tenochtitlan was founded by the Aztecs. The first temple was built marking the beginning of a new civilization. The first "official" ruler of the Aztecs was in 1375. His name was Acamapichi. By 1400 the aztecs were conquering civilizations to expand their civilization. They defeated the Tapanecs and spread to control the whole valley. In 1428, the aztecs joined together with the Texcoco and Tlacopan to defeat Atzcapotzalco in a triple-alliance. Twenty-four years later, the capital city of Tenochtitlan was destroyed in a flood. In 1486, seven years after Moctezuma died, Ahuizotu became the aztecs ruler. Moctezuma II ruled in 1502 at the height of the aztec empire. Seventeen years later, Cortez comes to the Aztec empire, Moctezuma II is killed.In 1521, Technochtitlan is destroyed and one year later is named Mexico City, New Spain.
